The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that he has no plans to resolve his ongoing dispute with Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.
Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, Wike criticized Fubara and his allies for failing to adhere to President Bola Tinubu’s directives aimed at resolving the conflict.
Wike said, “I don’t understand what conflict there is to resolve. Mr. President, in his wisdom, brought all parties together and gave clear instructions: withdraw the impeachment notice, do this, do that. But they failed to follow through.”
He continued, “The Assembly withdrew the impeachment notice, but then they went to court. Have they gone back to the President to explain why they couldn’t meet the other terms? No. I’ve never seen anything like this — where a president intervenes, and one party disregards it and calls it political. Who does that?”
Afripost reports that the tension between Wike and Fubara reportedly began shortly after Fubara assumed office as governor.
