Five people lost their lives in a tragic accident involving a Mercedes-Benz SUV at Fatgbems bus stop along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Sunday night.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
According to Odutola, the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, heading towards Mowe, lost control of the vehicle. The SUV hit a culvert, flipped over, and landed in the opposite direction.
Three men and two women, all passengers in the vehicle, were confirmed dead, while one individual sustained injuries.
The injured victim was rushed to AZ Carezone Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were taken to the mortuary at Real Divine Hospital in Ibafo.
Family members of the victims have been notified.
Odutola urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent such tragedies.
