The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, a notorious gang leader, along with his accomplices, for the murder of Ibrahim Danfulani. The crime was reportedly motivated by a rivalry over a marriage proposal.
In a statement released on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the incident occurred on November 27, 2024.
The attack stemmed from Nishi’s anger over Ibrahim’s plans to marry a woman for whom Nishi claimed to have made significant financial contributions.
Investigations revealed that Nishi, accompanied by two accomplices, carried out a fatal assault on Ibrahim Danfulani using knives.
Following the murder, the gang also stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, allegedly as a way for Nishi to recover his perceived financial losses.
SP Adeh explained that Nishi initially fled the crime scene but was later tracked down and arrested in Nasarawa State.
At the time of his arrest, he was reportedly planning to recruit new gang members to return and harm the woman involved in the dispute.
She stated, “The coordinated efforts of the FCT Police Command, in collaboration with residents of the Agaita community in Karu, resulted in the successful arrest of all suspects. They are currently in custody and will face prosecution to ensure justice is served.”
The police have reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining security and urged residents to report suspicious activities. Citizens can reach the command via emergency lines: 08061581938, 08032003913, 08028940883, CRU: 08107314192, and PCB: 09022222352.
