BREAKING: Otudeko’s Counsel protests over alleged N12.3bn fraud case in Lagos Court

Counsel to the Chairman of the Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko, on Monday, protested in a Federal High Court in Lagos over the alleged N12.3 billion fraud charges filed against his client.

The lawyer, Mr. Bode Olanipekun (SAN), informed the court that the charges had not been formally served on Otudeko or the two other individuals named in the case.

Representing all three defendants, Olanipekun raised concerns about the lack of proper notification, stating that due process had not been followed.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a 13-count charge against Otudeko, former Managing Director of First Bank Plc, Olabisi Onasanya, and a former board member of Honeywell Group, Soji Akintayo. A company, Anchorage Leisure Ltd, was also listed as a co-defendant.

The EFCC alleged that the defendants fraudulently obtained N12.3 billion under false pretenses.

The court proceedings are ongoing, and further details are expected as the case unfolds.
