Gunmen invaded the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Eagle Parish, located in Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, during a Sunday service and killed the presiding prophet, Yomi Adetula.
The tragic incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Baggage Road, Odo Eran, when three armed men stormed the church and shot the 54-year-old prophet.
Confirming the attack, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said officers arrived at the scene to find Adetula’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood, clad in his white Celestial garment.
“Upon observation, the body was riddled with bullets, and the head was brutally mutilated with an axe to ensure the victim was dead,” Mrs. Odutola disclosed.
Witnesses told police that the assailants entered the church armed with a long double-barrel gun, targeted Adetula, and fired a fatal shot before fleeing the scene
