Gospel singer, remanded over alleged murder of NYSC member

A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the remand of Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer, following the discovery of the severed head of Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, in his possession.

The shocking case came to public attention after Caleb Umaru, a Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary of Ajayi’s church, raised concerns about Ajayi’s suspicious behavior.

According to a statement released by the Nasarawa State Police Command on Friday, a church member witnessed Ajayi disposing of a bag into a river.

Upon retrieval, the bag was found to contain Adaidu’s severed head.

During interrogation, Ajayi reportedly confessed to murdering Adaidu, claiming infidelity as his motive.

However, the deceased’s family has strongly refuted his claims, insisting that Adaidu was not in a relationship with him. They have accused Ajayi of kidnapping and killing her, dismissing his narrative as false.

Ajayi has since been charged and remanded in prison custody, pending his formal arraignment.

The gruesome incident has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim as authorities work to uncover the full details surrounding her death.
