Bala Mohammed, Al-Mustapha criticized for opposing Tinubu’s economic policies

The Forum for Northeast Development (FND) has condemned Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, and former Chief Security Officer to late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, for their criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Baba Mala Biu, and Secretary, Comrade Lawan Mohammed, the group voiced strong support for Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly his tax policies, which they argue will yield long-term benefits for the northern region.

The FND emphasized the importance of these reforms in ensuring a sustainable future, noting that the Northeast stands to gain significantly.

“With our son, Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing the Northeast, we are confident that our interests will be well-protected. He will not let us down,” the statement assured.

The Forum also criticized prominent northern figures, including Bala Mohammed and Major Al-Mustapha, for their opposition to Tinubu’s reforms.

It stated that the policies, especially the tax reforms, are designed to stabilize the economy and promote growth and development.

Encouraging residents of the Northeast and other northern regions to remain optimistic, the FND urged them to support the current administration.

“We call on the people to trust in the Tinubu-Shettima leadership. These economic policies are foundational for sustainable development, and it is counterproductive for anyone from the Northeast to oppose them,” the statement added.

The statement followed recent criticisms from Al-Mustapha, who accused President Tinubu of squandering his political goodwill, and Bala Mohammed, who expressed concerns about the strain the reforms are placing on the North and the nation at large.

Despite these critiques, the FND reiterated its stance: “We appeal to the people of the Northeast to rally behind President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima as they work to lead us toward greater development.”
