15-year-old girl allegedly sells 7-year-old-rother in Delta

A 15-year-old girl has reportedly confessed to selling her 7-year-old brother to a man in Agbarho Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The teenager admitted to selling her brother to a man of Hausa origin, explaining, “I gave them my account number. They told me to leave and assured me the money would be sent to my account before they began searching for the child.”

According to a report by Daily Post, the incident came to light on Friday morning after community members confronted the girl, forcing her to confess.

The girl’s father, who hails from Orhoakpor Community, is said to be devastated. The girl, who is a twin, narrowly escaped being lynched by an angry mob but was saved by the intervention of Anthony Oboroh, a former Chairman of Ethiope-East Local Government Area.

Oboroh persuaded the mob to let the girl live, cautioning them that the parents could lose two children if the mob acted rashly.

He also contacted the police to arrest those suspected of buying the child.

At the time of this report, the whereabouts of the 7-year-old boy remain unknown. The parents of the children have refused to comment on the situation, while the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has yet to confirm the incident.
