Wike loses out as PDP restores Fubara-backed Executive in Rivers

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially accepted a Rivers State High Court ruling that nullified the party’s Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses held on July 27, August 10, and August 31, 2024.

Following the court’s judgment, delivered on Monday, January 13, 2025, the NWC reinstated the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to manage the party’s affairs in compliance with its constitution.

The party leadership expressed its commitment to upholding internal democracy, transparency, and the rule of law.

In a statement issued by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC emphasized the importance of unity and progress within the party in Rivers State.

The statement read in part:
“The NWC charges the Ewor-led Rivers State Executive to work diligently in fostering unity within the party. This is essential to ensure the people of Rivers State continue to benefit from the dividends of democracy being delivered by our performing governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, in line with the PDP’s manifesto.”

The party also commended its Rivers State members for their steadfastness and loyalty, highlighting the PDP’s dedication to being an inclusive and democratic party driven by the aspirations of the people.
