The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) has thrown its full support behind Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the next Governor of Lagos State in the 2027 elections.
In a statement signed by its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, the group described Seyi Tinubu as a highly qualified, well-educated, and capable candidate ready to lead Lagos into a new era of progress and prosperity.
The endorsement comes as a rebuttal to a recent prophecy by Prelate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church. Ayodele had predicted that Seyi Tinubu, alongside Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Gbenga Ashafa, should abandon any aspirations of becoming Lagos State governor. Instead, he suggested that Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Principal Secretary to President Bola Tinubu, was destined to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
CONYL, however, dismissed Ayodele’s prophecy, citing his history of failed predictions, including his inaccurate forecast that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would win the 2023 presidential election over President Tinubu.
The youth group expressed unwavering confidence in Seyi Tinubu’s popularity among Lagosians and his potential to bring development and progress to the state.
“Seyi Tinubu is widely admired and supported by the people of Lagos. We firmly believe he will emerge as the next governor in 2027,” the statement read.
