Five kidnapped in midnight attack on Kwara community

A gang of kidnappers has abducted five people, including a woman, her child, a guest, and two men, in Odo-Eku, a community in the Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident reportedly took place late Tuesday night, while residents were asleep.

Armed attackers stormed the village, firing shots into the air to create fear and chaos.

In the ensuing panic, they seized their victims and escaped into a nearby forest.

Community sources revealed that local vigilantes, hunters, and security personnel have since mobilized to track down the kidnappers and rescue the captives.

Elder Ogundeji, the Odofin of Odo-Eku, confirmed the abduction, identifying the victims as Hausa farmers residing in the community.

He noted that among those taken were a woman, her daughter, another female visitor, and two men.

The Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, corroborated the account, stating that the attack occurred at about 1:15 a.m. on January 15.

She confirmed that the victims—three women and two men—were taken to an unknown location.

“The Police, in collaboration with vigilantes, are actively working to secure the release of the abductees. We will provide updates as the operation progresses,” Ejire-Adeyemi assured.

Residents remain on edge as efforts to rescue the victims and restore calm to the community continue.
