Wike revokes land allocations of Uzodinma, Sen Bamidele other Prominent Nigerians

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocations of several prominent Nigerians, including the governors of Bayelsa and Imo states, Douye Diri and Hope Uzodimma, respectively.

Other notable figures affected include Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro.

The withdrawal of the Right of Occupancy (R-of-O) for 568 land allottees in Maitama II, Cadastral Zone A10, Abuja, was announced following their failure to pay Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills within the extended grace period.

According to the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), the decision to revoke the allocations aligns with Section 28 of the Land Use Act of 1978.

The affected individuals failed to comply with the financial obligations tied to their land titles, despite being given multiple extensions.

The revocation follows an earlier notice issued in October 2024 to 3,273 land allottees, granting them two weeks to settle their dues.

Of this number, 2,511 complied, while 762 defaulters were given an additional two-week grace period.

As of January 15, 2025, only 194 of the remaining defaulters had paid, leaving 568 in breach of the terms.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the FCTA clarified that the withdrawal of land rights applies solely to defaulters.

“Allottees/title holders who have completed their payments on or before 15/01/2025 are not affected by this publication,” the statement read.

Other prominent individuals impacted by the revocation include former Enugu State Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and federal lawmaker Oluwole Oke.
