UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has agreed to visit Nigeria later this year following an invitation from Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The invitation was extended during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, an event convening global leaders to tackle pressing sustainability issues, including climate change, energy, and water challenges.
During the discussions, President Tinubu praised the UAE’s successful hosting of the sustainability forum and presented Nigeria’s perspectives on climate and sustainable development.
Both leaders underscored the importance of enhancing economic cooperation and attracting foreign investments to Nigeria.
Sheikh Mohamed expressed his appreciation for President Tinubu’s participation in the event and reiterated the UAE’s commitment to strengthening relations with Nigeria.
In turn, President Tinubu highlighted his administration’s economic reforms, which he said have fostered stability and economic growth, boosting investor confidence and leading to significant multi-billion-dollar international investments.
President Tinubu invited the UAE to partner with Nigeria in developing key sectors, aiming to accelerate the country’s economic transformation.
He also thanked the UAE for its hospitality and emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral ties.
The meeting, held at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi, included senior officials from both nations, including UAE Ambassador to Nigeria Saeed Al Shamsi.
Sheikh Mohamed’s upcoming visit to Nigeria is expected to solidify the growing partnership and identify new opportunities for collaboration in economic development and sustainability.
