Reps Member dies after brief illness

Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, has passed away following a brief illness.

Onanuga, who represented the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, was 60 years old at the time of her death. She had been serving as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives. At the moment, neither the National Assembly nor her family have issued an official statement on the news.

Born on December 2, 1965, in Hammersmith, London, to Nigerian parents, Onanuga was a well-respected politician and entrepreneur. In 2019, she successfully contested for a seat in the House of Representatives as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Since 2023, Onanuga held the position of Deputy Chief Whip and also chaired the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she worked tirelessly on issues related to gender equality and social welfare.
