Benue man commits suicide with sniper after selling one land to three buyers

A man in his early thirties, identified as Mr. Tartor Ayihe, has reportedly taken his own life in Benue State by ingesting pesticide known as Sniper.

Ayihe, a resident of Ayihe village in Makurdi, Benue, had been embroiled in a land dispute after selling the same plot of land to three different buyers.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when a meeting was held to resolve the matter, attended by the three affected buyers.

During the meeting, Ayihe reportedly requested permission to leave, citing the need to return home.

However, he did not return after leaving the gathering.

Eyewitnesses stated that Ayihe visited three different shops in search of Sniper, eventually acquiring the pesticide.

Upon returning home, sources revealed that Ayihe turned off his phone and ingested the Sniper, dying from the poison in his compound.

After an extended period of waiting, a concerned community elder sent people to check on him. They discovered Ayihe’s lifeless body and rushed him to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Attempts to reach the Benue Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sewuese Annene, for comments proved abortive.
