The Universal Music Group has announced the cancellation of all Grammy award events and the ceremony.
This development announced in a statement on Instagram on added that event cancelled includes the artist showcase and the after-party.
The company stated that the funds for these events will be used to support those impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles, California.
In their statement, the group acknowledged the hard work of first responders and emergency staff. They noted that Los Angeles is home to many and promised to help the music community, artists, teams, and residents as they navigate this tragic situation.
It has been reported that over 180,000 residents in Los Angeles have been displaced from their homes. Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a Nigerian actress living in the area, mentioned that some of her friends were affected by the wildfires, and she prayed for their protection.
Hours after thinking about evacuating from her US city, she chose to return to Nigeria after receiving support from other Nigerians. Morey Faith, a Nigerian reality TV star, was also in a tough spot. She shared a video on her Instagram stories, mentioning she had only 20 minutes to get out.
Some Nigerians who have won the famous Grammy award include Ayo Balogun, known as Wizkid, and Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, known as Burna Boy.
