Two men arraigned in Ogun for alleged theft, assault

An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State has arraigned two men, Abdullateef Olasunkanmi, 18, and Sunday Morice, 28, over allegations of stealing a cell phone valued at N120,000, assault, malicious damage, and breach of peace.

According to Prosecutor Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, the defendants, along with others still at large, committed the offences on June 12 at around 1:15 a.m. in the Arobieye area of Ota.

Adaraloye alleged that the two men assaulted a driver, Zinsu Joseph, damaged his vehicle and stole his phone.

He stated that their actions contravened Sections 249(D), 335, 390(9), and 516 of the Ogun State Criminal Code of 2006.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted them bail at N100,000 each, requiring two sureties in like sum.

The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, have gainful employment, and provide proof of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

The case was adjourned to February 10 for further hearing.
