Islamic scholar accuses Gov Bala of mismanagement, politicizing Tax Reforms

Idris Abdulaziz, a well-known Islamic scholar from Bauchi, has criticized Governor Bala Mohammed, accusing him of financial mismanagement and questioning his moral authority to criticize President Bola Tinubu’s proposed tax reforms.

Governor Mohammed, a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been outspoken against the four tax reform bills currently being considered by the National Assembly.

In a viral video, Abdulaziz condemned the governor’s integrity, pointing to reported wasteful spending, including a claim that the Bauchi State government allocated N400 million to purchase only six computers.

The cleric, who has been recovering from health issues, stated he has been following the debates on the tax reforms and Nigeria’s diplomatic tensions with the Niger Republic junta.

He accused the governor and other political figures of using these matters for political gain.

Abdulaziz argued that the governor’s opposition to the tax reforms was not motivated by patriotism but by personal political ambitions.

He claimed that the governor’s goal is to leverage these issues to further his political career, including aspirations for the presidency.

The cleric also criticized the governor’s alleged financial wastefulness, suggesting that the N66 million per computer budgeted by the Bauchi State government is an example of his mismanagement.

Abdulaziz warned that if Northern Nigerians are deceived by the governor’s actions, they will eventually suffer from his policies.

He dismissed the governor’s criticisms of the federal government’s tax proposals as politically driven and urged the public not to take them seriously.
