The Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has voiced strong support for Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, declaring him well-qualified to serve as the next governor of Lagos State.
In a recent appearance on the Mic On podcast, Olawande addressed the increasing speculation surrounding Seyi’s potential candidacy for the 2027 governorship election, confidently stating that Seyi is more than capable of leading the state.
“He’s not too young to become a governor,” Olawande remarked, emphasizing Seyi’s qualifications.
Olawande described Seyi as a dedicated, well-trained individual with a longstanding commitment to youth empowerment, a passion he has demonstrated long before his father ascended to the presidency.
While rumors of Seyi’s candidacy began to circulate in 2024, particularly following endorsements from the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) and other groups, Olawande clarified that Seyi himself is not directly involved in the campaign for the governorship.
“Seyi is not the one driving the campaign to become the next governor of Lagos State,” he added.
