Must read

A violent confrontation erupted late on January 12, 2025, between security forces and bandits in Rafin Malam Bala, located in the Mahuta area of Dandume Local Government Area (LGA), Katsina State.

The clash resulted in the death of Suleiman Mohammed, a courageous officer from the Katsina Community Watch Corp (CWC).

During the intense exchange of gunfire, the bandits suffered losses but managed to retreat, taking the bodies of their fallen members.

Tragically, they also abducted several civilians, evading the combined efforts of the CWC and police reinforcements led by Divisional Police Officer Emmanuel Zangina.

The exact number of captives remains uncertain, according to Bakatsine, a prominent banditry analyst and security expert in the Northwest region.

Residents of Sako Mai Dam in the Mahuta district are still working to determine the number of abducted individuals.

This attack follows another incident on January 9, 2025, in the Kirijam community of Dandume LGA, where bandits kidnapped 28 people.

While 10 of the captives have since returned, the whereabouts of the others remain unknown.

The recurring attacks in Dandume LGA highlight the persistent threat posed by banditry in the region.

Despite ongoing efforts by local security forces, the bandits continue to terrorize communities, leaving residents in fear and uncertainty.
