The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State, has announced the indefinite closure of the institution in response to a planned protest by students over issues related to result verification.
The protest stemmed from challenges encountered by students who had completed their National Diploma (ND) at other polytechnics and were experiencing delays in verifying their results. These delays reportedly disrupted their academic progress, prompting frustration among the affected students.
In a statement released on Monday, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, confirmed the closure, emphasizing that the decision was taken to safeguard lives and property.
“The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have announced the closure of the polytechnic effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, until further notice. This decision is to ensure the safety of lives and property due to the protest by some students regarding the management’s decision to verify their National Diploma results from their previous schools,” the statement read.
Ajibola also highlighted the institution’s firm commitment to combating fake credentials and urged students to stay off campus for their own safety. He assured parents and the public that updates would be provided as the situation develops.
