Leadership turmoil deepens in NURTW as factions clash over Presidency

Must read

The leadership crisis within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has intensified, with supporters of embattled National President Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa criticizing Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, for refusing to step down despite a court ruling against him.

Comrade Abideen Ejiogbe, Oyo State Chairman of the union, condemned MC Oluomo’s continued tenure as National President, calling it a flagrant disregard for the judiciary.

He also accused the Southwest Council Chairmen of backing what he described as an illegitimate and unconstitutional leadership.

The union’s national leadership has consistently rejected MC Oluomo’s presidency, arguing it lacks legal backing.

This stance was bolstered by a court decision declaring his position unlawful. Despite this, MC Oluomo has remained in office, a move that has sparked widespread criticism and exacerbated internal divisions.

Ejiogbe urged union members to resist any attempt to hijack the organization, emphasizing the need to uphold justice and democratic values.

He also called for calm as tensions within the union continue to escalate.

The crisis has drawn national attention, with rival factions becoming increasingly polarized over the union’s future leadership.
