Edo election Tribunal: PDP vows to reclaim governorship mandate

As the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal resumes sitting on Monday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its determination to overturn the outcome of the September 21, 2024, governorship election.

The election was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

In a communiqué issued after a meeting of the party’s leadership, including its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, the PDP reiterated its resolve to reclaim what it described as a mandate duly given to it by the people of Edo State.

The communiqué, signed by Hon. Henry Tenebe, Secretary of the Edo State PDP Caretaker Committee, was convened under the leadership of Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the Chairman of the State Caretaker Committee.

The PDP expressed its dissatisfaction with the APC-led administration, accusing it of causing significant setbacks in Edo State since taking over governance. The party reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and constitutional democracy, emphasizing that peace, security, and order are essential for the development of Edo State and Nigeria.

The party leadership also commended its members and supporters for their unwavering loyalty and steadfastness, urging them to remain committed to the cause.

They expressed confidence in the leadership of Dr. Tony Aziegbemi and Asue Ighodalo, praising their efforts in promoting unity and progress within the party.

Calling for continued support and prayers, the PDP vowed to pursue its case at the tribunal with determination, expressing optimism that justice would prevail and the mandate of the people would be restored.
