The police on Friday arraigned 34-year-old Monday Aonduna before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a bakery rolling wheel.
Aonduna, who has no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge of theft.
Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant committed the offense on December 31, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m. in Osekita Area, Iworoko-Ekiti.
Adeniyi claimed that Aonduna stole a bakery rolling wheel, valued at N300,000, which belonged to one Onitekun Oluwasegun.
He stated that the alleged offense violated Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor requested an adjournment to review the case file and prepare witnesses for the trial.
Aonduna, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Defense counsel, Busuyi Ayorinde, requested bail for the defendant, assuring the court that he would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon granted Aonduna bail in the amount of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned to February 13 for further hearing.
