JUST IN: National grid collapses first time in 2025

Nigeria’s national power grid has experienced its first collapse of the year, just ten days into 2025, resulting in a nationwide blackout.

This development, which has left many Nigerians in darkness, marks the 13th grid failure in the last 13 months.

Data reviewed shows that power generation dropped sharply from 2,111.01 megawatts at 2:00 pm to 390.20 MW by 3:00 pm.

The Energy Podcast confirmed the incident, stating, “National grid suffers major collapse… First in 2025.”

Restoration efforts are reportedly underway, with power generation climbing back to 302 MW by 2:40 pm, according to further updates.
