Must read

Two residents of Idu village in Kufana District, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were killed on Wednesday evening during an attack by suspected bandits.

The victims, Mr Sadiku Saleh and Mr Aliyu Kabiru were reportedly killed around 8:30 pm, according to the letter written by Mr Stephen Maikori, the overseer of Kufana District, to the traditional ruler of Angwan Kufana. Daily Trust obtained a copy of the letter on Thursday.

Maikori stated that the attackers not only took lives but also looted homes and shops, stealing foodstuffs, provisions, and other valuables.

“I write to report to you that on Wednesday, 8/1/2025, at around 8:30 pm, armed bandits attacked Idu village and killed two persons—Mr. Sadiku Saleh and Mr. Aliyu Kabiru,” the letter read.

He further highlighted the deteriorating security situation in the region, noting that other villages such as Randa, Makaranta, Sabongida, and Libere have been abandoned by residents fleeing recurrent attacks.

Maikori urged authorities to bolster security efforts to protect lives and property, adding that the matter had been reported to security agencies.

Efforts to contact ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, were unsuccessful as his phone remained unreachable.

This attack comes shortly after the state government initiated peace talks with bandit leaders as part of efforts to address insecurity in rural areas.
