IGP orders manhunt for killers of Borno police officers

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has instructed law enforcement officers to launch a full-scale operation to capture those behind the January 9 attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State.

The midnight assault, which occurred around 12:10 a.m., resulted in the deaths of Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.

In a statement released on January 10 by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP condemned the violent act, pledging that the attackers would face justice.

He offered condolences to the families of the fallen officers, assuring them that their dedication would be honored anhonoured entitlements swiftly provided.

To ensure swift action, the IGP directed Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police Kenechukwu Onwuemelie to allocate resources and work closely with other security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators.

Reaffirming the police force’s commitment to national security, the IGP emphasized ongoing efforts to hold those involved accountable and to reinforce public safety in the affected area. Investigations into the incident are still underway.
