Two killed, valuables looted in bandit attack on Katsina community

Must read

Armed bandits attacked the Fadumawa community in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State on Wednesday night, killing two residents, stealing valuables, and rustling a large number of livestock.

Local sources, speaking anonymously to AFRIPOST, reported that the assailants arrived in the community late at night, firing shots indiscriminately to instil fear among residents.

“They were heavily armed and came in large numbers, targeting specific houses to loot valuables and livestock,” one resident recounted.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the two victims were killed while resisting abduction attempts by the bandits.

“They tried to defend themselves, but the attackers overpowered them and shot them,” another witness stated.

The bandits also made away with a significant number of livestock, leaving several families devastated.

“We rely on these animals for our livelihood. Now, we have nothing left,” a distressed resident lamented.

The Katsina State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

Efforts to reach the police spokesperson for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

This latest attack adds to the rising number of incidents involving armed groups in Katsina State, underscoring the worsening insecurity in rural areas.

Residents are urging the government to take decisive action to protect lives and property and to address the growing menace of banditry in the region.
