President Bola Tinubu on Thursday, welcomed China’s Foreign Minister and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Wang Yi, to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This visit, part of Wang Yi’s two-day working tour of Nigeria, aims to enhance the two nations’ bilateral ties.
Key discussions are expected to focus on reviewing the Memorandum of Understanding signed at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in China.
Areas such as the economy, political collaboration, and oil and gas will be central to the talks.
A joint press briefing will follow the discussions, featuring Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and Wang Yi.
Prominent figures at the meeting included Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Minister of Information, Idris Mohammed; and Ambassador Tuggar.
Minister Tuggar highlighted the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and China, emphasizing mutual respect.
He also noted that Wang Yi’s visit was aimed at reinforcing the diplomatic foundation between the two countries, with discussions focusing on trade, capacity building, and people-to-people exchanges.
