Kaduna communities protest incessant killings by bandits, demand govt action

Must read

Residents of Kauru Local Government Area in Kaduna State have taken to the streets to protest the persistent insecurity caused by terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers that have plagued their communities for years.

The protests highlighted the plight of residents in villages such as Dokan Karji, Bandi, Kan-Makama, Wugama, Kurfi, Unguwan Mai Doki, Dokan Sonoma, Bibi, Kaware, Unguwan Sako, Hayin Mai Jama’a, and Sabon Layin Kan-Makama in Dawaki District.

These areas have faced repeated attacks, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of property, and a constant state of fear.

Protesters expressed frustration over the impact of the insecurity on their daily lives, saying the threats have left them unable to sleep peacefully.

They called on Governor Uba Sani to intervene and provide measures to secure their communities.

A conflict journalist based in Northwest Nigeria, Bakatsine, shared videos of the demonstration on X (formerly Twitter).

Protesters carried placards and chanted demands for action, with one resident stating, “We can’t continue like this. Every day we live in fear. We are calling on the government to save us.”

The demonstrators stressed their desire for peace and the right to live without fear, urging the government and security agencies to act decisively to protect their families and properties.

This situation underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts between the government, security forces, and local communities to combat insecurity across Nigeria.

Attempts to reach Kaduna State police spokesperson Mansir Hassan for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and messages went unanswered.
