Kachalla Dogo Isah, a notorious bandit leader known for his reign of terror in Kaduna State, was killed in a violent confrontation with a rival group of repentant bandits on January 7, 2025.
The clash occurred in Kachia Forest, where Isah’s group attempted to steal cattle from a camp led by Kachalla Musa, a former bandit leader who had recently joined a government-backed peace initiative.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the situation escalated into a gun battle, resulting in the deaths of Isah and two of his men.
The conflict between the two factions is believed to have stemmed from the peace efforts being pursued by Musa’s group.
Dogo Isah, responsible for numerous criminal activities such as cattle rustling and attacks on security personnel in the Kachia and Kajuru areas, had become a major security threat due to his refusal to join peace efforts.
His death marks a significant reduction in criminal activity in the region, though it highlights the ongoing risks for those leaving banditry behind, as seen with the killing of his cousin, Tukur Sharme, in a similar clash in September 2024.
