The Lagos State Government has confirmed the arrest of a nursery school teacher, Stella Nwadigo, from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, after a viral video showed her physically abusing a three-year-old boy.

In the video, Nwadigo was seen slapping the child, identified as Abayomi Michael, for not performing well in a classroom assignment. The footage, widely shared on social media, sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians demanding her arrest and calling for the school to be shut down.

In response, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) announced on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that Nwadigo had been apprehended by officers from the Owutu Family Support Unit (FSU).

“We appreciate everyone who brought the disturbing video to our attention,” the DSVA stated. “The teacher involved has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is now underway.”

The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights of children and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for their development.

“If you have any additional information about this case or similar incidents, please reach out to us via our toll-free hotline at 08000 333 333 or send a message through our social media platforms,” the DSVA added.
