EFCC detains ten officers over missing operational items

The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained ten of its officers for their alleged involvement in the disappearance of operational items.

In a statement released on Wednesday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that the detentions were ordered by the agency’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

Although the names of the officers were not disclosed, Oyewale emphasized that the action aligns with the chairman’s commitment to addressing corruption within the organization.

He further stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing and that any officers found guilty will face disciplinary measures.

“The officers, detained last week on the directives of Mr. Ola Olukoyede, are being questioned over missing operational items they failed to account for.

Investigators are making significant progress, and those implicated will undergo internal disciplinary procedures,” the statement read.

This development follows the recent dismissal of 27 EFCC staff members in 2024.
