Peter Obi alleges threat to life by APC Spokesman

Must read

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has raised concerns over what he describes as a threat to his life by Felix Morka, the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obi’s accusation stems from Morka’s remarks during an interview on Arise TV, where he reportedly said, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times and has it coming to him whatever he gets.” Obi interpreted the statement as a direct threat to his safety and that of his family.

The development follows Obi’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its handling of the country’s economic and security challenges.

During a press conference titled “Nigeria Needs Selfless and Exemplary Leadership,” Obi urged the government to take decisive action to restore hope to Nigerians, whom he said are increasingly disillusioned.

Responding to Obi’s claims, Morka dismissed the allegations as “ridiculous,” accusing Obi of being deceptive.

He reiterated that Obi had “crossed the line” and advised him to allow his legal team to focus on his tribunal case.

Taking to social media, Obi shared his concerns on X (formerly Twitter), saying:

“Have I really crossed the line? My New Year message has now led to threats against my life, my family, and those around me. Felix Morka has accused me of ‘crossing the line’ and warned that I will face the consequences.”

Obi also shared a link to his New Year message, inviting the public to judge whether his comments were inappropriate.

He emphasized his commitment to speaking truthfully despite the growing risks, stating:

“We are increasingly transforming into an authoritarian and repressive regime, where freedom of expression is being systematically suppressed. However, I will not be silenced in my resolve to address the pressing issues facing our nation.”

Obi concluded by calling for a freer society and praying for a better future for the nation’s children.
