Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has declared a dawn-to-dusk curfew in Owo Local Government Area after a violent cult clash claimed four lives.
Among the victims of the clashes was Fisayo Oladipo, a prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The state police confirmed the fatalities and the ongoing violence in the area.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor directed residents to remain indoors during the curfew and instructed security agencies to restore peace and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
“Following the violent cult clashes and security disturbances in Owo, which have resulted in the loss of lives, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the town, effective immediately and until further notice.
“All residents are required to stay indoors during the curfew hours, except for those providing essential services such as healthcare, emergency response, and law enforcement,” the statement read.
The governor also emphasized that security agencies would ensure compliance with the curfew while prioritizing the safety of lives and property.
