EFCC dismisses 27 officers over fraud, misconduct

Must read

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced on Monday that it has dismissed 27 officers from its staff for various forms of misconduct and fraudulent activities.

The announcement was made in a statement by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who confirmed that the dismissals took place in 2024.

Oyewale explained that the officers were removed following recommendations from the Staff Disciplinary Committee, which were then approved by the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede.

In his statement, Oyewale emphasized the EFCC’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, adding that no member of the commission is exempt from facing disciplinary action.

He noted, “Any allegation against any staff will be thoroughly investigated, including the ongoing inquiry into a claim involving $400,000 by an unidentified EFCC staff member against a Sectional Head.” Oyewale reiterated that the core values of the EFCC must be upheld at all times.

The spokesperson also warned the public to be cautious of impersonators and blackmailers who exploit the names of EFCC officials to extort money from high-profile suspects under investigation.
