Engr. Muhammad Diggol, the Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, has submitted his resignation, effective immediately.
This decision follows a recent cabinet reshuffle that reassigned Diggol from the Transportation Ministry to the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
While Diggol did not publicly disclose his reasons for stepping down, sources close to him have described the move as “purely political.”
It is believed that he was dissatisfied with his reassignment, as the Transportation Ministry is viewed as a more prominent and influential portfolio.
An anonymous insider revealed that Diggol had been part of a faction critical of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s perceived sway over Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.
The source suggested that Diggol’s resignation was a preemptive step to safeguard his integrity amid speculation that he might face dismissal.
Governor Yusuf has officially accepted the resignation, as confirmed in a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.
Diggol, appointed Commissioner for Transportation in 2023 at the start of Governor Yusuf’s tenure, transitioned to the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation before ultimately resigning.
