Gunmen have killed Surajo Leader, the Katsina State chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), along with two others in Kusada Local Government Area.
The attack took place on Saturday night when the assailants stormed the Mai Rana community in Kusada.
Sources reported that the gunmen also abducted two of the deceased’s wives and his daughter, an undergraduate student.
The victims have since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites, while residents remain on edge following the attack.
Katsina Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident and noted that law enforcement officers engaged the assailants in a shootout.
The gunmen were forced to flee, leaving behind one of their vehicles and one of the kidnapped women.
Aliyu stated that efforts were underway to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
He appealed to the public for any credible information that could assist in locating the fleeing criminals.
