A tragic fire outbreak in the early hours of Monday claimed the lives of the daughter and three grandchildren of Sokoto State’s Secretary to the Government, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa.
The victims included Alhaji Sifawa’s daughter, who was married to Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, the Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development. The fire, which broke out while the family was asleep, tragically trapped the woman and her three children, leaving her husband as the sole survivor.
The Sokoto State Fire Service responded promptly to the incident but could not save the victims. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The remains of the deceased are scheduled for burial today at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa, according to Islamic rites.
