Abuja steel company under investigation in sewage manhole cover vandalism case

Must read

Authorities have identified Abuja Steel Company as one of the suspected receivers of stolen sewage manhole covers from highways in the capital.

The company, located along the Abuja-Kaduna Road, has been linked to the illegal activities, with exhibits recovered by police now in custody.

Ongoing investigations are focusing on the company’s role in the removal, purchase, and melting of the stolen covers.

Security agencies have made several arrests, with those detained providing crucial information about the buyers involved in the vandalism of the infrastructure.

AFRIPOST reports that the crackdown was confirmed yesterday by both the Police and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who have been working in tandem to address the issue.

As part of efforts to restore the damaged infrastructure, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, directed the commencement of replacement works for the stolen manhole covers, which began yesterday.
