“You’ve penchant for misinformation” – Omokri to Peter Obi over Tinubu’s economic policies

Must read

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has criticized Labour Party’s ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi, arguing that Obi lacks the moral standing to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.

Obi recently claimed that Tinubu’s policies had exacerbated poverty in Nigeria and urged the President to visit various states to witness the extent of hardship firsthand.

Responding in a statement shared on his X account on January 3, Omokri accused Obi of hypocrisy.

He argued that poverty levels in Anambra State doubled during Obi’s tenure as governor, unlike Lagos State, where he claimed Tinubu reduced poverty during his governorship.

Omokri stated, “Peter Obi’s suggestion that the President should tour states to assess poverty levels is misguided.

“It reflects his continued penchant for misinformation and propaganda.

“Rather than addressing the roles of governors and local government chairmen—who now receive direct allocations due to Tinubu’s reforms—Obi targeted the President, ignoring the decentralized nature of poverty alleviation.”

Omokri further suggested that Obi’s fixation on Tinubu stems from a desire for power, adding that Tinubu has already begun tackling inflation and stabilizing monetary policies.
