Rivers crisis: Politicians using Gov Fubara to undermine Wike – Magnus Abe

Must read

Former Rivers South-East Senator, Magnus Abe, has alleged that political figures rallying around Governor Siminalayi Fubara are merely exploiting him as a means to weaken the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at a New Year stakeholders’ gathering organized by Wike in Rivers State on Friday, Abe argued that the support for Fubara is driven by self-interest rather than genuine loyalty or love for the governor or the state.

“No one stands with Governor Fubara out of love for Rivers State or the governor himself. They see him as a tool to further their agenda, which is to target the FCT Minister,” he remarked.

Abe also criticized many of Fubara’s current supporters, accusing them of engaging in anti-party activities during elections by backing candidates from rival political parties.

He warned, “These individuals are focused on their personal ambitions. If tomorrow you can no longer serve their purpose of undermining Wike, they will abandon you for someone else.

“My advice, Governor, is to discern between true allies and those who are only using you.”

Calling for unity among Rivers politicians, Abe urged Fubara to prioritize the collective interests of the state by collaborating with genuine patriots to address looming challenges.

“No governor alone can declare legislative seats vacant. Work with others to safeguard the future of Rivers State,” he concluded.
