Adams Oshiomhole, the lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on Friday expressed his gratitude to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for lending Nyesom Wike to the current administration.
Speaking at a New Year’s luncheon organized in Port Harcourt by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Oshiomhole commended Wike for his contributions to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly his efforts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Oshiomhole described Wike as a valuable asset to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and acknowledged his impact in the development of Abuja.
He humorously referred to Wike as “an asset borrowed from the PDP” and extended his thanks to the opposition party for allowing him to serve in the APC-led government.
“Thank you to the PDP for giving us Nyesom Wike to help us fix Abuja. I don’t belong to any club, I only belong to Bendel Insurance, but I listen to those who say they are Manchester United fans,” Oshiomhole said.
He added, “When you’re giving your best player to another club, you pay heavily. Thank you for what you’re helping us do in APC. PDP in Rivers led you to us without asking for a transfer fee.”
In a lighthearted moment, Oshiomhole joked, “We may not be happy to return you; we would even create a toll gate to prevent that.” He further emphasized that Wike’s contributions to President Tinubu’s government have been significant and appreciated.
