Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has applauded human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi for his steadfast dedication to advocating for better governance in Nigeria.
Obi praised Farotimi’s courage and resilience, particularly in light of his recent return from a correctional facility in Ekiti State.
The lawyer had been involved in a legal dispute with the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Afe Babalola, over an alleged defamation case.
Sharing his delight in reconnecting with Farotimi, the former Anambra State Governor revealed that the two met on Thursday in Lagos.
Their meeting came shortly after Obi’s engagement with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Taking to his X account on Friday, Obi wrote: “Yesterday, following my visit and meeting with President Obasanjo, I made time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi. Since his return from the correctional centre in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him.
“I was pleased to find him in good spirits and deeply encouraged by his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a better Nigeria.
“@DeleFarotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation.
“I wish him a fruitful and productive year as we continue to work together toward the development of our country.
“A New Nigeria is POssible.”
