Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo as part of his New Year outreach.

This meeting followed Obi’s earlier engagements with former military leader General Ibrahim Babangida in Niger State and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.

Sharing updates on the visit via his social media handle on Friday, Obi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with Obasanjo on critical national matters.

“Yesterday, I travelled from Abuja to Lagos to meet a father figure, Leader, and Former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, to extend New Year greetings and discuss issues of national importance,” Obi wrote.

He commended Obasanjo’s wisdom and guidance, highlighting the former president’s contributions to Nigeria’s development and his ongoing role as a voice of reason in addressing the nation’s challenges.

Obasanjo, who led Nigeria as military head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as a democratically elected president from 1999 to 2007, remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s political landscape.
