Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has praised lawyer and human rights activist Dele Farotimi for his resilience and courage in the face of adversity.
Farotimi recently faced detention after being remanded in prison custody over allegations of character defamation brought against him by prominent lawyer Afe Babalola.
In a post on his personal X account, Obi shared details of his visit to Farotimi on Thursday, January 2, after meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“Yesterday, following my meeting with President Obasanjo, I took time to visit my dear younger brother, Dele Farotimi,” Obi wrote. “Since his return from the correctional center in Ekiti, I have not had the opportunity to meet with him.”
Obi expressed his joy at seeing Farotimi in high spirits and commended his steadfast commitment to advocating for a better Nigeria.
“Dele Farotimi exemplifies courage in the face of adversity, consistently taking bold stands for good governance in our nation,” Obi said. “I wish him a fruitful and productive year as we continue to work together toward the development of our country.”
