The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed a fire outbreak at a one-storey building in the Lekki area of Lagos.

In a statement on Thursday, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s Permanent Secretary, disclosed that the fire occurred at No. 2A, Abike Sulaiman Street, Lekki Phase 1. The agency received a distress call regarding the incident at approximately 12:57 p.m.

“Following distress calls on the 767 and 112 emergency toll-free lines, LASEMA promptly activated its response team from the Lekki Base,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.

Upon arrival, responders discovered that the building was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.

The swift intervention of LASEMA and other emergency responders prevented the fire from spreading to nearby structures.

“The inferno was contained and completely extinguished, with dampening down operations concluded to ensure safety,” he added.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities have urged residents to prioritize fire safety measures to prevent such incidents.
