Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has assured Nigerians of improved security in 2025, pledging to enhance the protection of lives and property across the country.
General Musa made this commitment on Thursday during his visit to troops of Sector Seven, Operation Safe Haven, in Samaru, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
He was accompanied by Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, and Commander of Operation Safe Haven.
Reflecting on the past year, General Musa acknowledged the challenges faced by the military in 2024 but expressed optimism about achieving better results in 2025.
“2024 was a tough year, but we made significant strides. In 2025, we aim to do even more to bring lasting peace to Nigerians. The enemy is relentless, but we are determined not to rest until we succeed,” he stated.
He extended gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support and called for continued collaboration to overcome the nation’s security challenges.
“We appreciate the support from Nigerians and appeal for their continued cooperation in defeating the enemies of our land,” he added.
General Musa also praised President Bola Tinubu for providing essential resources and creating an enabling environment for military operations.
He commended the National Assembly for approving the 2025 budget, which includes funding for advanced military equipment.
Addressing the troops, the defence chief applauded their dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region.
However, he cautioned against unprofessional conduct and urged them to avoid illegal activities, work closely with other security agencies, and foster trust with the public.
“The president is proud of your efforts, and Nigerians depend on us to ensure their safety. We cannot afford to fail. We are on the right path, but we must intensify our efforts to secure the nation this year,” he said.
He further encouraged the troops to remain impartial and focus on targeting criminals while protecting innocent civilians.
“Be fair and just in your actions. Go after the criminals, not the innocent,” he advised.
