The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, over his New Year message to Nigerians.
The ruling party accused Obi of using the message to gain political mileage and misleading the public about the state of the nation.
Felix Morka, the APC’s spokesperson, accused Obi of attempting to incite Nigerians against President Bola Tinubu and dismissed his comments as baseless. Morka claimed that Nigeria has seen significant economic progress under Tinubu’s administration.
“Like his allies in the PDP, Obi’s relentless pessimism and futile attempts to provoke public dissatisfaction are rooted in his recognition that Tinubu’s visionary reforms are solidifying their political irrelevance,” Morka stated.
He added that under the Renewed Hope Agenda, President Tinubu is working tirelessly to improve the nation’s fortunes. “We urge Nigerians to remain confident that better days are ahead,” Morka concluded.
The APC reiterated its commitment to steering the country towards growth and stability while urging citizens to ignore what it described as Obi’s divisive rhetoric.
