Bandits have attacked Kwanar Jalab village in Zungeru Ward, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting several passengers and setting their vehicle ablaze.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday around 8 a.m., just hours after a notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, reportedly threatened to retaliate against the arrest of his relatives.
While it remains unclear if the attack was directly linked to Turji’s threat, sources confirmed that about ten individuals, including the vehicle’s driver, were abducted during the ambush.
A resident, speaking under anonymity, described the incident as unprecedented in the area. “The bandits abducted all the passengers in the vehicle before burning it. This is unusual; they’ve kidnapped people along the road in the past but have never destroyed vehicles during their operations,” the resident said.
The attack has heightened concerns over the worsening security situation in the region, as communities grapple with increasing threats from bandit groups.
